In vitro cell culture

In vitro cell culture on electrospun materials has been shown to result in more natural cell behavior compared with cells grown on tissue culture plastic. This is though to be due to the microscopic three-dimensional structure of the electrospun materials, which mimic the ECM on which cells grown within the body. One area of application for these electrospun cell culture products is in the field of drug discovery and testing. If cells behave more naturally, the results of drug testing on those cells is a more accurate representation of what would happen in the body.
