There are many food additives with proven health benefits, but which are highly susceptible to degradation e.g. by oxidation, loosing their bioactivity before they can be consumed. In order to maximize their activity in enriched foods and nutraceutical supplements, these bioactive ingredients must be encapsulated to protect them from degradation during processing and storage. Bioinicia has developed a technology for the encapsulation of such bioactive food ingredients using food-grade edible materials. Unlike existing technologies, Bioinicia’s encapsulation process works at room temperature and can dry and encapsulate in a single, continuous step, resulting in uniform microcapsules ready for formulation into any type of product.
